AI는 특정 분야의 기술적 혁신을 넘어 우리의 삶 전반을 변화시키고 있습니다. 이러한 변화 속에서 우리는 AI의 개발과 활용이 인류 전체에게 최대한 이로운 방향으로 이루어지도록 AI의 전 생애주기에 걸쳐 합리적인 거버넌스 체제를 확립하기 위해 모두의 지혜를 모아야 하는 변곡점에 와 있습니다.
서울대학교 인공지능 정책 이니셔티브(SAPI)는 2017년부터 국내외 학계와 현장을 선도하는 전문가들을 모아 AI 정책 및 규범의 방향과 현안을 논의하는 SEOUL AI POLICY CONFERENCE를 개최해 왔습니다. 올해 컨퍼런스는 특별히 서울대학교 인공지능신뢰성연구센터(CTAI)와 공동으로 주최하며 2024년 8월 12일과 13일 양일에 걸쳐 진행됩니다. 이번 컨퍼런스는 우리나라는 물론 글로벌 AI 거버넌스 논의의 최전선에서 다뤄지고 있는 프런티어 이슈들에 대해 조명하면서, 실질적이고 지속가능한 해결책과 구체적인 실천방안을 모색하는 자리가 될 것입니다. 다니엘 솔로브(Daniel J. Solove), 파멜라 새뮤엘슨(Pamela Samuelson), 크리스토퍼 유(Christopher S. Yoo), 제이슨 메튜소(Jason Matusow) 등의 세계적인 석학과 기업 리더의 기조연설, 오픈AI의 제이슨 권(Jason Kwon)과의 대담, 그리고 AI 거버넌스의 핵심 과제로 부상하고 있는 AI 표준의 정립에 관한 영역별 패널 외에 AI 거버넌스 모델, 프라이버시, 저작권, 가짜정보, 인권 및 경쟁 등 AI 거버넌스의 주요 현안을 다루는 총 10개의 세부 패널들이 마련되었습니다. AI 거버넌스의 이론적 기반을 마련하고 나아가 효과적이면서 실천가능한 방안을 모색하는 데 관심 있는 분들의 많은 참여 바랍니다.
AI’s potential to change how we think, behave and interact with our environments, and the challenges posed by AI’s transformative effect have become urgent topics of discourse in our societies. We are at an inflection point that demands better ideas, closer collaboration, and bolder imagination to establish practices, norms and structures across AI’s life cycle that would ensure its integration in our societies is beneficial to humanity as a whole.
Since 2017, the Seoul National University AI Policy Initiative (SAPI) has brought leading experts from Korea and abroad together to discuss pressing issues and challenges for AI policy and law at the SEOUL AI POLICY CONFERENCE. This year’s conference will be held in Seoul on August 12th and 13th, in collaboration with the Center for Trustworthy AI at Seoul National University. Our goal is to shed light on issues at the frontier of AI governance and explore workable solutions that are robust and sustainable.
The conference will include keynote addresses from renowned academics and industry leaders, such as Jason Matusow, Pamela Samuelson, Daniel J. Solove, and Christopher S. Yoo, as well as a fireside chat with OpenAI’s Jason Kwon. There will also be ten individual panels featuring leading experts in their respective fields, covering a broad array of topics including AI standards, governance models, privacy, copyright, competition, mis/disinformation and human rights.
