평범한 기술로서의 AI

Is transformative AI around the corner? How will the impact of advanced AI on labor be? Can we defend against catastrophic risks? In this talk, I will share a vision of artificial intelligence as “normal technology,” in contrast to both utopian and dystopian visions that treat AI as a potentially superintelligent entity.

변혁적 AI는 현실이 되고 있는가? 고도화된 AI는 노동에 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 이 모든 위험으로부터 우리는 방어할 수 있을 것인가? 본 기조연설에서는 AI를 초지능적 존재로 보는 유토피아적·디스토피아적 관점 대신에 ‘평범한 기술(normal technology)’로서 바라보는 새로운 비전을 공유합니다.

Sayash Kapoor는 Mozilla 시니어 펠로우 및 프린스턴대학교 Center for Human Values의 펠로우이며, 프린스턴대학교 Center for Information Technology Policy에서 컴퓨터공학 박사과정 중에 있습니다. 2024년 Nature 선정 ‘올해의 책 10선’에 오른『AI Snake Oil』의 공동 저자이며, 동명의 뉴스레터는 전 세계 5만 명 이상의 AI 연구자, 정책입안자, 저널리스트 및 AI에 관심 있는 독자들에게 읽히고 있습니다. Sayash Kapoor is a Senior Fellow at Mozilla, a Laurance S. Rockefeller Fellow in the Princeton University Center for Human Values, and a computer science Ph.D. candidate at Princeton University’s Center for Information Technology Policy. He is a co-author of AI Snake Oil, one of Nature’s 10 best books of 2024. His newsletter by the same name is read by over 50,000 AI enthusiasts, researchers, policymakers, and journalists. His work has been published in leading scientific journals such as Science and PNAS. He has written for mainstream outlets including The Wall Street Journal and WIRED and his work has been featured in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Washington Post, Bloomberg, and many others. Kapoor has been recognized with various awards, including a best paper award at ACM FAccT, an impact recognition award at ACM CSCW, and inclusion in TIME’s inaugural list of the 100 most influential people in AI.

Jason Kwon is the Chief Strategy Officer at OpenAI, overseeing policy, legal, and social impact research teams. Previously, he was the General Counsel of Y Combinator Continuity, Assistant General Counsel of Khosla Ventures and an Associate Attorney at Goodwin. He was a software engineer and product manager before practicing law. He has a JD from UC Berkeley Law and a BA from Georgetown University.
